Lijjat Pappad, India

These round flatbreads, which can be found in every Indian household, are made from lentil flour. They are rolled very thin and then dried. Papadum is served as an appetizer with coriander chutney or they accompany biryanis, pulaos and curries. This variant is refined with black pepper. Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad is an Indian women's organization that manufactures various products from papadam to masala spice to wheat flour (atta).  The main goal of the organization is the empowerment of women by providing employment opportunities.
